Anna Sokolow and Leonard Bernstein

During the1973 Yom Kippur war Leonard Bernstein and Isaac Stern came to Israel and gave a free Concert at The Jerusalem Theater with Israel Philharmonic Orchestra playing Beethoven's  Violin Concerto and Beethoven's Egmont overture, I was among the audience as a teenager.

On  May 28th, 1981 I went with Anna Sokolow to a Special Concert "Program of works by Leonard Bernstein"
at The Fredric R. Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv in Israel.
At that time I was a dance student planing to continue my studies in NYC at the Juilliard school.

After walking with Anna and hearing her wish to go with me to the concert, I felt that something very special is going to happen.
It was an Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra Special concert of Leonard Bernstein conducting His works:

Three Dance Episodes from "On the Town";  Facsimile ; "Halil" , Nocturne for solo flute, string orchestra and percussion - world Premiere with Jean Pierre Rampal as flutist;   Symphonic Suite from the film "on the Waterfront";   Divertimento for Orchestra

I bought two expensive tickets from my scanty salary as a waiter.

After the concert while the audience was still applauding, We went Backstage.

When Lenny saw Anna he was very much excited and He took us to the conductor room.
Anna  introduced me to Mr. Bernstein, and I was a Witness to the close intimacy  between them Based on their common love for art.
Later I  have discovered their collaboration on Candide,

And that Anna  had introduced lenny to  Aaron Copland backstage on Her recital, Bernstein marked the event of Copland's eightieth birthday with an acrostic.
